Who doesn’t LOVE Sheryl Lee Ralph! Most of us grew up watching her play iconic and vital roles such as Dee Mitchell on Moesha and Deena Jones in the Broadway musical Dreamgirls. Seeing her win the Emmy for Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series was a proud Black Girl Magic moment—especially since Jackée Harry was the first African-American woman to receive the award, making Sheryl the second.

Jackée publicly shared her joy on Facebook and explained just how full circle this moment was for the both of them:

Sheryl responded with a note of thanks to her friend and colleague via Facebook:

In case you haven’t seen it, here is her full Emmy acceptance speech.

Sheryl joined TODAY with Hoda & Jenna and opened up about the emotional moment she won an Emmy for her role in Abbott Elementary, saying, “It was like I got jettisoned into a surreal, surreal moment. I could not believe it, but they called my name and it was like my whole career just flashed before me.”

She also shared how she empowers herself every morning with affirmations, saying, “When you start saying positive things to the brain, the brain believes you.”

And that’s trill tea!
